Be a Part of the Solution

We've been a part of the Problem all this while until NERI came up with the #NotAnotherNigerian Idea Challenge and Hackatton.

Our eyes are now open to the reality of our own lapses. Together we've made up our mind to help the Masses especially here in the South and other Regions who still haven't realised how they could become a solution in their own little way if they avoid Stigmatising our Northern Brothers and Sisters.

Together, we'll do our own bit and allow others do theirs.

The Spirit of UBUNTU

Let the Spirit of UBUNTU guide our perceptions and decisions towards our Northern Brothers and Sisters today.

Nigeria belongs to us and not just to me or you. Together we can starve Boko Haram of new recruits if we stop encouraging radicalization of our Northern Youths by our Stigmatization and rejection attitude. Say No to Stigma, Say Yes to Brotherhood.

#NorthernersAreNotBokoHaram

Yesterday I was shocked to realise that Usman, from Borno State, a graduate of Political Science from Unimaid, a wonderful public speaker and a writer took to selling Sugar cain on the Street because he was rejected here in Port Harcourt. Once people realise he's from the North, they feel he's a threat and would not give him an opportunity to act.

If any Boko Haram sect offers Usman an opportunity with little little benefit to join and revolt against Us or Nigeria, it'll be very difficult for him to resist because he really has nothing to lose even if he dies in the process.

Northerners are Nigerians, they are wonderful and talented people and can actually help us achieve our goals while becoming more stable and full of hope.

Please say #NO to Violent Extremism especially in the North by accepting them as your own brothers and Sisters. A job for one Northerner supplies him with the needed hope and reason to resist joining the Boko Haram Sect to fight against us.

We may have been perceiving Muslims to be in open hostility with Christians for quite some time now. We may have also allowed Ethnicity and Political differences to govern our perception towards the Northerners. We don't really advocate for Religion, neither do we advocate for Ethnicity or Politics.

At Kobahakaba, we are Simply Nigerians. We advocate solely for our dear Country, Nigeria.

All we are saying is that if you are Comfortable and living in the midst of people who are suffering penury and likely to practice violent extremism, then your home or Community may be their first target to attack.

Boko Haram have so far succeeded in recruiting vibrant Youths into their Sect because those Youths have no alternative source of survival. They reluctantly join to fight against the people whom they perceive to be the cause of their suffering.

If we can begin to accept them into our society and see them as our Brothers while sharing every opportunities within our reach with them, we may be the required tools for ending this menace facing us.
